Alex Aguinaga was born on June 7, 1969. He was born in Ibarra, Ecuador. Aguinaga is a famous futbol player. The position he played was midfielder. On club level he played for Sociedad Deportivo Quito, Club Atletico Guayaquil, Necaxa, Cruz Azul, and Liga Deportiva Universitaria (Alex Aguinaga). He was one of the all-time cap leaders for Ecuador. Aguinaga was in 109 matches and scored 23 goals. He was considered one of the best Ecuadorian players. His first appearance was in the late 80s. One goal that Aguinaga is known for is his bicycle kick in the game against Chile. He also helped win Ecuador’s first World Cup in 2002 (Alex Aguinaga). Aguinaga retired from the national team after winning the 2002 World Cup. He retired from professional futbol after the 2005 closing tournament with Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito.
